Being or becoming spiritual can be more easily said than done. True spiritualism will have to have the guidance of the Superior Being. Otherwise, the Spiritualism we aspire to would be a figment of our imagination designed to suit our levels of knowledge and understanding as well as our idiosyncrasies. This approach to Spiritualism will have a spotty impact on our lives and will not be as satisfying as one would have hoped before starting on the journey.
Since ‘tptChoice’ is spiritually based, let us suggest to you another spiritually directed life-choice exercise that you would be expected to accept and practice, and eventually understand and like.
Accept: Charity begins at home. Why? Those close to us have the greatest right over us. Practically, if we don’t fix ourselves and fix our own eco-system and we try to fix others and their eco-system, then it will be seen as lacking wisdom and experience – overlooked opportunity, misplaced eagerness and sincerity. Also, it is easier to get along with people with whom we have no history. So, there is little feat in being amiable and open to a stranger! Whereas it is harder sometimes to get along with people we have known our entire lifetime. Therein is the challenge.
Accept: All punishments must be justified. Cruel and unnatural retribution, and a lack of proportionality distorts any bid to reestablish fairness – right any wrong.
Accept: It is best if we are able to ignore behaviors that hurts us personally [show ‘afu]. Failing which, it would be better if we could go easy on the punishment [have halimah]. Otherwise, it would be good if we could forgive [show maghfirah]. Whatever the corrective mode chosen, for our personal recovery and wellbeing, forgetting [nasia] is smart. In case we miss the point, this is nature’s mechanism for allowing us to restore normalcy and get on with it. And, according to authentic Spiritualism, nature is from the Superior Being! It is not a self-imagined and self-created entity. So, we are already beneficiaries of His Superior Intellect.
Accept: However self-centered one may be, we do not like to hurt ourselves. Generally we do not like to hurt those closest to us: parents, siblings, spouses, children, in-laws, cousins, uncles and aunts, etc. They are our first circle of human enshrinement. Our longest memory usually involves them. So, are we not always and habitually giving them pass on various contradictions?
Accept: Listen to true Spiritualism and act in the following way. When there is a falling apart with another blood relative, on matter other than serving God issue or criminal misconduct or threat of it, then let go and get over it by restoring contact and relationship in no later than 3 days. Should we let pride take over? Apparently not, for it eventually merges with foolishness. Ignore the ‘Who’s Right and Who’s Wrong’ or ‘Who Should Go First’ missive entrapping us. No doubt, the cost of cutting off tie for the long haul far exceeds the benefit. God is the Merciful. If we seek His mercy, we must be merciful ourselves. Is it not only fair and becoming that we are willing to give to others what we expect and want to receive ourselves?
Whether born of fun, situation-bred, or acquaintance-led exposure, and regardless of the age of initiation, alcoholism is an uncontrolled, debilitating chronic disease of the mind. Having become the go-to source of relief and leisure, a financially expensive habit, alcohol casts a pall of gloom over normal life. It affects people variously. In fact, five impact categories have been identified. Regardless, in the worst case scenario [9.2% of alcoholics; 38 years average age;
Drug Addiction originates in habitually consuming hard drugs [i.e., illegal or controlled substance without prescription]. Entering the body variously [via drinking, smoking and inhaling, snorting, smelling, injecting, inserting, etc.] for the express intention of gaining pure pleasure and relaxation it produces, in the long run it reveals itself to be the Trojan horse it is. It is an induced/acquired mental (i.e., psychological and emotional) and physical disease.
Once viewed as an impulse control failure, GA has been reclassified as a mental disease. No matter what gambling has been to a person, how it has arrived and is pursued – as a past-time or a challenge, casually or regularly, self-discovered or inducted, as an early starter or a late-comer, openly or secretly, in solvency or in-debt, family-sensitive or irresponsible - girded by precarious financial condition, its steely grip produces tremendous psychological and emotional
According to current professional assessment, HSD/IDO/SA is not a disease but an impulse control disorder. It is taking a normal, adult inclination into directions, places, times, people, and processes that are far from normal. Sexual Addiction is very secretively pursued and is quite destructive to one’s social status, health, relationships, legal standing, spiritual and ethical moorings, and sometimes even to one’s income earning capacity and assets
